This month’s Membership Board was held on 27 August. Jo Keen was the meeting chair, and it was attended by 19 members.

There were 7 staff leavers and 7 new staff member applications, 0 community leavers and 9 new community member applications, all new applications were approved bringing the total members across staff and community to 1,008.
Fiona confirmed that the 1000th member was Bethanie Padbury, and she was presented with a voucher for the Garden Centre and had her picture taken to celebrate the milestone. -
A sponsorship request was approved to fund a trophy for the best player at an upcoming chess event that the Grimsby & District Chess club are holding at the Cleethorpes Leisure Centre in September.

Sharon Greensill gave an update on the newly formed ‘Environmental Risk Group’. It is about bringing people together to ensure that our environments are safe and appropriate for our service users. Sharon welcomed any suggestions for naming the new group.

Ruth said that new additions have been added to the Managing Policies Policy, including a section on requirements for policy authors to identify stakeholders, consider co-production with service users and carers, and document involvement.

The AGM mailout has now gone out in the post to all staff and community members. This includes the new membership card, benefits booklet, AGM info and agenda for the day. Fiona said they were making efforts to make the AGM as accessible as possible, including information packs, a feedback link for attendees to request adjustments, and measures such as transport support, buddy systems, and quiet spaces. The staff and community representatives gave an update on their year so far including their priority interests and areas they are supporting and wanting to improve.

Rachael spoke about her passion for supporting carers and how the carers’ wall at Harrison House has helped carers. It also has a lot information for people to consider if they are a carer. Rachael said they are looking at rolling these carers’ walls out to other sites in the future.

Jo said that her priority interests were Navigo’s staff wellbeing offer and supporting people to be productive and healthy at work, along with staff development and contributing to Navigo’s employment pathways into the organisation.

Gill shared an update from Claire and Toby which included supporting patient improvement initiatives, tackling racism in the workplace and celebrating diversity and culture.

In the spotlight this month was an update from Mandy at Rharian Fields. Mandy said that they continue to support our service users to reach recovery and achieve goals they never thought possible, and every day she sees the hard work and creative approach taken by an amazing group of staff.

Also in the spotlight was an update from Adult Acute. Keri said that that there was still a challenge around capacity and demand, but there were some great achievements, including alignment of the Mental Capacity Act Lead and Mental Health Act office, maintenance of urgent response standards, reduced staff absence, Royal College accreditation, improved training compliance, and introduction of the meet-and-greet role at Harrison House.

Corporate service quarterly updates were received from:

PALS - Cath reported 87 enquiries (including complaints and concerns). This is slightly up on the previous quarter. The top themes of the complaints have not changed, with 51% of complaints being related to patient care, although much of this when investigated is due to poor communication, with 59% of complaints closed within the agreed time, and a 10% response rate to feedback questionnaires, with most complaints relating to patient care and communication. Actions taken included updating questionnaires to prompt family involvement, dedicated training on documentation and professional conduct, and the introduction of phone call queuing at Navigo House.

Carers – Rachael reported growth in the Carers Working Group, increased referrals and assessments, and the development of a new carer’s strategy with champions from each directorate. Key figures included 52 new referrals, 51 new carers registered, and 64% of referred carers receiving assessments, with 72% receiving six-week reviews.

Corporate induction - Richard gave an update from the new corporate induction program that launched in May 2025, and summarised activity between May and August 2025, saying that all new starters now begin on the first Monday of each month with a blended corporate induction, which has already supported 74 staff and continues to evolve based on feedback. This is showing significant improvements and positive engagement.

People and Organisational Development – NHS staff survey launches in October with paper and online options available. NHS Agenda for Change pay award is now affective as of the 28th August. Key metrics included Staff sickness 3.2%, Staff turnover 10%, Staff vacancies 4% and Staff training compliance 93%.
