Gain real mental health care experience

Student female on mental health placement listening to a service user

If you’re studying at university, we’d love to invite you to join us for your placements.

We can offer you the chance to get great experience of working in mental health care – perhaps on our inpatient lodges , across community settings or elsewhere across our diverse organisation, working with young people and adults in award-winning services.

We currently offer placements to students from local colleges studying mental health-related courses, as well as those studying:

  • Nursing
  • Nursing associates
  • Social work
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physician associates
  • Psychology

We’ll help you develop the skills you need to progress in your career. We’re a forward-thinking organisation that encourages fresh-thinkers and new perspectives on our work.

Across almost 20 different placement areas, we have around 60 national governing body-approved practice teachers, supervisors and assessors who can offer you their support, guidance and expertise.

The staff are regularly updated in the courses you’re studying, so they are well-placed to help you learn and achieve your learning outcomes.

We allocate each student to an experienced, qualified member of staff and you’re encouraged to work with the whole team. You’ll also visit other areas to enrich your learning.

Having students like you in our services is good for both our service users and us.

You get us thinking even more about our practice – and inspire us too!
