In celebration of its one year anniversary, Grimsby Garden Centre’s Potting Shed is making another generous gesture by launching ‘this is on us’.
From now on, any employee of The Potting Shed is allowed to give a ‘Random Act of Kindness’ free gift to anyone they wish every week – from a free coffee to a slice of cake, a delicious brekkie to a chip shop special – at no charge to customers.
NAViGO head of commercial services Jo Keen said: “We all benefit from random acts of kindness and you can really make someone else’s day with a surprise gesture.”
Both The Potting Shed and Grimsby Garden Centre are owned by NAViGO.
Turning profit for good, proceeds go back into the centre’s upkeep and supporting mental health services across North East Lincolnshire. Plus, the garden centre complex also offers training and employment opportunities to people from disadvantaged backgrounds and individuals with mental health difficulties.
Jo added: “Not only do we serve great food and drink in lovely, relaxed surroundings; but when you buy from us, you are also helping to support people in your local community.
“So this is a small way for us to say a big thank you to our fantastic customers.
“Plus, we hope people feel inspired to continue spreading the kindness far and wide. Because kindness is contagious.”
Open to all ages, the friendly venue underwent a major transformation last year, doubling in size and introducing Scandinavian style outdoor booths, garden and children’s play area.
The Potting Shed offers take-out drinks and cakeaway or eat-in options with a range of toasties, sandwiches, classics, beverages and sweet treats while helping raise the visibility of mental health support services in the community.
Emergency services, NHS, North East Lincolnshire Council and armed forces employees benefit from a 10% discount on production of appropriate identification.
If you’re part of the RNLI lifeboat crew you can have a free hot drink or a brew when you’ve been out on a shout.
And it may be launching in May 2022 – the month which marks the Potting Shed’s birthday - but the kindness initiative will continue throughout the year, so popping out for good food and good drinks can do good, but can also lead to a nice surprise.
