Innovative new beer mats will be making their way to the pubs and bars of North East Lincolnshire as part of a new mental health awareness campaign.

NAViGO is launching its first beer mat, which provides people with support information while encouraging conversation about mental health.

The beer mats have a tailored message with the back of the mat featuring a QR code that directs people to NAViGO’s website, where they can find a wealth of information about the free support and advice offered.

NAViGO chief executive Simon Beeton said: “Placing information in pubs and bars enables us to reach a wide range of people and show them where they can get support if they need it.

“We know that the rising price of food, fuel, energy and other essentials is having an impact on mental health with added financial pressures and their consequent impact creating anxiety, depression and panic for many individuals.

“These are all things that can weigh on your mind and keep you up at night so it’s really important to remember that you are not alone, help is available and reaching out for assistance can help prevent situations getting to a breaking point.”

Pubs and bars across North East Lincolnshire are being encouraged to back the campaign, with Cleethorpes establishment The Bobbin leading the way.

The NAViGO team will continue distributing the mats across the area, but any businesses who would like to get involved are encouraged to get in touch by sending an email to navigo.comms@nhs.net.

This is the first of our planned beer mats, with future designs already being drafted to focus on helping people ‘check on a mate’.
