The Gardiner Hill Foundation is proud to continue to help people who are receiving support from Navigo or Nurtrio.
In August and September 2025, we awarded multiple grants that are already making a real difference in the lives of service users.
Small grants that have been funded recently:
- Short residential respite accommodation for a service user recovering from brain surgery after fleeing domestic violence.
- A treadmill to support exercise, self-esteem, and mood regulation.
- Essential furniture to turn a newly secured flat from street homelessness into a safe, comfortable home.
- Repair of a back door damaged in a traumatic incident to restore security.
- A condenser tumble dryer so a parent rebuilding life after domestic violence can care for themselves and their child.
- A hanging egg chair to replace a stolen feature in Navigo’s Rharian Fields garden space.
Behind these grants are real stories:
A family reunion for rest and recovery
Someone who recently fled a domestic violence relationship and underwent surgery needed short respite to reconnect with the family she rarely sees. Thanks to a grant covering accommodation costs, she spent quality time with loved ones - an essential boost to her emotional recovery and wellbeing.
Taking control of physical and mental health
Medication side effects led to weight gain, denting one service user’s self-esteem and deepening their depression. With a new treadmill at home, they can exercise safely and privately, feel a renewed sense of self, and be able to work towards improved physical and mental health.
Turning a house into a home
After years of homelessness, one service user finally secured a flat, but arrived with no furnishings. A grant for sofas, bedding and basics has transformed those bare walls into a comfortable, safe haven that supports their mental health and sense of belonging.
Restoring safety and peace of mind
During a traumatic incident, the back door of a service user’s home was broken, undermining their sense of security. Our grant covered the repair, restoring a sense of safety within their own home.
Warm clothes in cold months
A parent who fled domestic violence lives in an old, chilly terraced house with no way to dry clothes efficiently. A condenser tumble dryer now helps her care for herself and her child.
Bringing garden space back to life
The Rharian Fields garden is a well-loved spot for relaxation, group activities, and family visits. Recently, a stolen hanging egg chair left a noticeable gap. Thanks to a grant to replace it, the garden feels inviting and relaxing again.
