Ellie takes a Dip in the Danube

Ellie Walsh, a trustee of the Gardiner Hill Foundation training in an ice bath for her fundraising challenge

Ellie Walsh, a trustee of the Gardiner Hill Foundation, is taking on the exciting fundraising challenge of swimming in the Danube River this December!

With a goal of raising £500, Ellie aims to support the foundation in its mission to empower and enrich the lives of individuals in North East Lincolnshire facing mental health difficulties.

As a keen swimmer, Ellie decided to push herself to dip in the Danube River, which is expected to be between 2°C and 4°C, when on holiday in December. This chilly plunge is snow joke! But, Ellie has already begun preparing herself for the challenge by taking regular dips in an ice tub in her garden.

Ellie said, "As a trustee, I've seen the real impact that the foundation has on individuals and Navigo as an organisation.

"I wanted to take on a challenge that would not only encourage people to donate but also get their attention.

"We hope this helps more people to become aware of the work that the Gardiner Hill Foundation does and inspires people to take on their own challenges, too."

The Gardiner Hill Foundation welcomes grant applications from individuals who receive support from Navigo or Nurtrio.

The grants cover a range of requests, from support with household essentials for people who may be living independently for the first time in a while, to courses which uplift someone's career prospects.

As well as supporting individuals, the foundation works alongside and supplements mental health services within Navigo.
