Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provide a range of comprehensive, multidisciplinary community mental health and emotional wellbeing services for children and young people.
The service, previously known as Young Minds Matter, also provides support for their parents and carers. This is delivered through integrated, targeted and specialist teams. Needs include:
- emotional wellbeing problems
- moderate to severe mental health problems
- enduring mental health problems
We operate core hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. There is late night opening several nights a week.
What conditions can you support with?
Care is delivered via evidence based pathways for a number of mental health conditions and disorders.
These include:
- Depression
- Eating disorders
- Anxiety disorders (including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD
- Self harm
- Attachment disorders, primarily for children who:
- are fostered or in the care of the local authority
- children who have been adopted
- children who are at risk of going into the care of the local authority
What services are available?
- CAMHS advice line for all agencies
- Training courses for professionals on key issues with safeguarding children's and young people's mental health
- An integrated CAMHS provision delivering evidence-based pathways and outcome-focused measures
- Group therapy and individual psychological therapy.
- Support to vulnerable groups including young people:
- with a learning disability
- who are looked after children
- who are part of a youth offending service
- pupil referral units where there is an identified mental health need
- Support for universal services
- Care and support through transition to adult services where needed
- Specialist Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment in partnership with other services
