Feeling low, lonely or vulnerable in the evening?

Walk into Safespace or join online

Lonely woman sat at Safespace gazing into distance. She has a cup of tea.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Safespace will be closed on the evening of Friday 25 October, 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Safespace will reopen as normal at Navigo House on Brighowgate in Grimsby on Saturday 26 October, 2024 between 5.30pm and 11.30pm.

If you need support with your mental health, we're still here.

Call (01472) 256256 and select option 3 to speak to our crisis team. They are available 24 hours a day. Alternatively, you can call 111 free from a landline or mobile phone. Or you can text ORANGE to 85258 to start a free text conversation with a Shout volunteer.

If you are looking for support for a child or young person, please visit our dedicated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services pages.

We can all feel vulnerable from time to time - especially in the evenings.

Safespace is an out-of-hours, open door crisis cafe where you can get instant and practical mental health support.

If you’re feeling low in the evenings, you can drop into Safespace and speak to fully-trained mental health professionals who will help you manage your wellbeing.

Or, if you'd rather stay at home, you can contact us using Zoom.

It’s a judgement-free zone and we welcome those who are in need – whether that be due to loneliness, isolation or emotional vulnerability. There's no need to call ahead - just drop in.

Safespace is a former Navigo Project of the Year winner and a joint initiative with North East Lincolnshire Mind. We opened our doors in April 2019.

How do I access Safespace?

There's no need to call ahead — you can access Safespace by walking in and speaking to the team face-to-face.

We're based in Navigo Coffee House on Brighowgate in Grimsby.

Coming to the cafe is optional and you can still access the virtual service if you'd rather not come in.

We’re bringing Safespace to you. You can get in touch through Zoom.

Just click this link to connect with us.

It’s really easy to set up:

  • Sign up free to Zoom (but do not use your Facebook account to sign up)
  • Download the software to your mobile device, laptop or computer
  • Open the app on your device and sign in
  • Either click here to join, or
  • Click ‘Join’ and search for Meeting ID 208 809 6683
  • Join the chat group, either with sound only or with video
  • You will be moved into a ‘breakout’ room where you can register and speak with a member of our team privately.

Navigo and Mind, as operators of the Safespace facility, accept no liability for content sent, transmitted, displayed or uploaded by any users of this service. Any inappropriate content will be removed and the user concerned prevented from using the electronic platform. Where necessary it will be reported to the police.

Connecting via WiFi over your broadband or a free hotspot will be free but please check if you have any data limitations in your contract.

Connecting using 3G or 4G data from a mobile device will use up some of your data allowance for the time you are connected. Data usage can vary from 120MB per hour to 500MB per hour or more depending on use of audio and video. Turning off your camera on the call will save a lot of data use.
