The Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k is back this summer – and NAViGO are excited to be one of the main sponsors of the event.
The race, organised by Tape2Tape, returns as a Covid-safe event on Sunday 18th July with a staggered start between 9am and 11am.
Simon Beeton, deputy chief executive of NAViGO said: “We’re proud to once again support this year’s Great Grimsby 10k and use this fantastic event to highlight the positive link between physical and mental wellbeing.
“After the year we’ve just endured, it’s even more important to look after ourselves and each other, so we’re really looking forward to being part of what is always an amazing, feel-good day for the local community.”
It’s hoped the race will encourage seasoned runners and couch potatoes alike to dust off their running shoes and get back outside as lockdown restrictions ease.
NAViGO sponsored the 2019 event, as well as last year’s virtual version which took place amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
A number of safety conditions will ensure that the welfare of runners is prioritised this summer, including:
- Reduction on capacity of 50% to 2000 runners
- No mass start to prevent overcrowding
- Rolling start in smaller groups from 9am until 11am
- Provision of hand sanitizer at key locations
- Extensive briefing to runners, spectators and the general public
- Regular contact with Public Health England
There will also be a virtual version of the race for people who don’t quite feel ready to return to a live race.
Entries will open up for the event on Tuesday 11th May and more information can be found on the Tape2Tape website.
