The King visits Grimsby

Grimsby welcomed His Majesty The King today as he visited the town to meet the people, groups and organisations working hard to make North East Lincolnshire a better place to live.

During the visit, The King spent time with local projects focused on community, skills, health and the environment. One of the key stops was Blundell Park, home of Grimsby Town Football Club, where His Majesty joined the Our Future partnership meeting and was gifted a Grimsby Town Football Club shirt by the Mighty Mariner himself!

Navigo Chief Executive, Simon Beeton attended the meeting to represent Navigo. We are proud to be part of the ongoing Our Future work, which brings local partners together to understand what communities need, support long‑term change and help make North East Lincolnshire a place where people can thrive.

To help brighten the meeting space, plants from our very own Grimsby Garden Centre were loaned for the event. And Nursery Manager, Colin Fell from the garden centre also picked out a native English rowan tree to display.

His Majesty has always supported the mental and physical benefits of gardening, green spaces and spending time in nature. This is something Navigo strongly believes in too and is one of the reasons we bought Grimsby Garden Centre back in 2015. We know that gardening, nature and shared outdoor spaces can make a real difference to people’s wellbeing.

Simon Beeton said after the event:

“I’m really proud to be representing Navigo in the ongoing Our Future partnership work. It meant a lot to stand alongside people who care so deeply about this place and are putting the work in every day. His Majesty’s visit to Grimsby was a huge moment for our town and an acknowledgment of the commitment shown by partners who want the very best for North East Lincolnshire and the people who live here.”

“It was great to see the plants and tree from our own Grimsby Garden Centre to bring some extra colour to today’s event. He has always championed the mental and physical benefits of green spaces, something we believe in strongly and a big part of why we bought the garden centre back in 2015. Gardening and nature make a real difference to people’s wellbeing, and it means a lot to share that with him during his visit to Grimsby.”

The visit also made us reflect positively on our own strategy, which is built around the four pillars of Live, Work, Love and Evolve. These pillars guide us as an organisation and shape how we support people to live well, feel connected and have opportunities to grow. We could see the same aims reflected in the work of the Our Future partnership and in the conversations taking place during the visit — creating healthier communities, opening up opportunities, strengthening belonging and working together for long‑term improvement.

His Majesty’s visit highlighted how many local people and partners share these goals, and we are proud to work alongside them.
