The local authority has asked all partners to introduce a short, planned pause on new referrals to Growing Well Together while they review the service model. This includes consideration of the new government guidance for Best Start in Life, which will replace Start for Life.
Since June 2024, Growing Well Together has become a valued part of the early years system, recognised for strong multi agency working and positive outcomes for babies and caregivers. The review aims to ensure the service remains sustainable, aligned with local pathways, and able to support families effectively within the resources available.
What this means
- New referrals will pause from 2 February 2026.
- The team will continue supporting families already open to the service.
- During this period, Navigo will work closely with the local authority and partners to finalise an updated model and future pathways.
Updates will be shared once the revised pathway is complete.
Growing Well Together is a new Parent-Infant Relationship Service (PaIRS) set up as part of North East Lincolnshire Council’s Start for Life programme to help parents and caregivers strengthen their connections with their babies.
While having a baby can be a happy and special time, things may not always turn out as you had imagined them. It can be challenging and it’s not unusual for parents and caregivers to struggle, feeling overwhelmed, vulnerable or stressed.
You might also have challenging feelings about yourself, your partner or your baby.
If you are an expectant parent or are a parent or caregiver with a baby aged up to two years old, we can support you.
We offer support to local families through:
- Dedicated appointments with our friendly team
- Individual therapeutic support
- Parent and caregiver groups
- Focused sessions around baby’s brain development
- Signposting to other services
We also offer advice to professionals.
All of our support is free and provided in a supportive environment. We can meet you where you feel most comfortable whether that is your home, a local community centre, a family hub or at our base in Freshney Green Primary Care Centre.
The support might be delivered in a group or one-to-one, or through a trusted professional already working with you and your family.
The team will aim to promote a loving secure relationship between primary caregivers and their infants, which lays the positive foundation for health and wellbeing for the rest of the child’s life.
The team offer evidence-based and practice-informed therapeutic interventions to strengthen the parent-infant relationship. This includes psychological therapy and approaches, such as Solihull and trauma-informed approaches, Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), Newborn Behavioural Observation (NBO), and Circle of Security Parenting (COSP). This list is not exhaustive.
We can help you to think about what help might be the best fit for you and how we can support you to access this.
Yes. We work closely with partner agencies and services, including Family Hubs, Family Help, the Midwifery Service, the Health Visitor Service, the Perinatal Mental Health Service and NHS Talking Therapies.
Together, we think about individual strengths and needs of the parent-infant relationship, the parent or caregiver’s mental health and the best available support.
